Day 7 - Cold as heck! Rattles & Clicks & first fillup

Picked up the Mazda yesterday from Brandywine Mazda service. Still not convinced that they experienced the same thing I do. They cleaned up the wheels for me. Whatever...

Anyway, I've read forums about the the Speed 3 and even the 3's having a nasty click/squeak in the windshield/cowling area. Due to the cold weather we are having yesterday and today I started hearing it. It isn't that big of a deal right now. I can see how it might bug some people, but, I'm kinda used to that coming from an '83 RX-7 and 93' Accord. I also noticed some kinda clunky rattle in the back today too. I'll have to investigate that some more.

Filled up the gas tank with premium for the first time today. I assume that the dealership put 87 in it. We'll see if it makes any difference in power and I'll take my first mileage reading at the next fill up.

Overall, I'm very happy.

  • walk out and look at the black mica each morning :-)
  • start it up & listen to the low growl
  • jack in my ipod
  • buckle in and hit the road
  • my commute is pretty short so I don't get too much time in the Speed 3

At the end of the day...

  • walk out and see my new Speed 3 just waiting there
  • start it up, jack in the ipod
  • take the long way home

I'm really enjoying this car :-)

Still getting used to...

  • close gated six speed (am I in 1st or 3rd?, what gear am I in?)
  • lighting of the instrument panel (just tinkering with it a bit)
  • starting in 1st and 2nd without spinning (especially when there's a little gravel)
  • pulling to the left a bit, if this is still bothering me in a couple weeks I'll have to take it down to Brandywine again

Zoom Zoom Zoom!

Back to the RX-7 tomorrow 'cause we're putting the Odyssey in the shop to be inspected and get some injector work done. My wife will drive the Speed 3 and I'll drive the 7. Not a bad compromise I guess ;-)
